Geography is found in 910. You will want to investigate this section for information about your biome. An example of a good geography book for this project: Call number- 910 MAC, Desert by Miranda MacQuitty (1994) If you are doing the extension activity, books about transportation are found in the 380s, inventions are 608, engineering is the 620s, and manufacturing is in the 680s. You may want to look at a book such as this: Call number- 388 EBO, The 12 Biggest Breakthroughs in Transportation Technology by M.M. Eboch (2015).
Click on the planet Earth to access a website on biomes that was created by the Missouri Botanical Garden. Click on your biome and read the description. Then check out the options on the left side of the screen.
Click on the sea turtle to access Britannica Animal Kingdom. You can also log in via Clever and MackinVia. Once in the database, you can explore animals by groups or by habitat. There is also a search box at the top of the page.
When you use databases or websites it is important to use the correct search terms. For example, enter the name of your biome in a search box. Many results should come up. Click on some and skim for the articles for important information. You are encouraged to look at articles with your group members to decide if the information is helpful. Other key terms include: "structural adaptations", "animal adaptations", and "animal survival".
Click on the giraffe to access a list of the 10 Ten Animal Adaptations according to Animal Planet. Not all of the adaptations are structural, but this is a good place to get an introduction to adaptations.
Click on the duck to access videos and documents from Knowitall.org. Use the drop down box to select your grade and the subject. Then click on the search box next to "Science" and select "Environments & Habitats" and/or selections under "The Animal Kingdom".
Click on the stingray to access the PebbleGo animal adaptations database. You can also log in via Clever and MackinVia. Click on the tabs for different adaptations and watch the short videos.

Use the search box to find a specific animal or click on the "Animals" option on the left. A great option along the top of the page is "Survival and Adaptation". If you click on the "Animals and Their Environments" option, you will discover animals of different biomes.
Click on the dart frog to access the San Diego Zoo website. You can search by animal or habitat. Learn about animals from reading about them or watching short videos.
